Which EV Charger do you need?

To choose determine which EV Charger is the best for your situation and electric or hybride car, there are two important aspects which are depend on your car: plug type and maximum charging power

Knowing these two aspects you at least can choose the EV Charger is suitable for your car.  
Many other information, which are often described with a EV Charger, are more important for the installation on to the fuse box like the number of fases and Amperes. Also other information about the possibilites and options of the EV Charger like the charging cable length, lock and load balancing. The options are mainly personal demands.

Important:

1) You can not use a EV Charger with a type of plug which is different than your car. These have to be the same or you have to use an adapter.
2) You can always use a EV Charger with a higher or lower charging power than the battery of your car is made for. But if the EV Charger has a higher charging power than your battery is made for, it will not charge faster. It will charge the maximum power for which the battery is made. If you decide to buy a EV Charger with a lower charging power than the maximum charging power of the battery, you just have a longer charging speed and therefore you battery will take longer to be full.

We shall give a short explanation of all the terms:
Type of plug: type 1 or type 2
Maximum charging power: the amount of kW per hour which the battery can charge
Usable battery capacity: the actual amount of power which is available on the battery for driving.
Maximum charging speed: the number of time in hours which the EV Charger needs to charge the car battery from 0 to 100%, based on the maximum charging power.

For the calculation of the charging speed we use the term  "usable battery capacity" and not the "battery capacity", because car batteries have a buffer to expand the live time of the battery and not get broken. This buffer part is rather big for batteries with a low capacity and therefore the maximum charging time can easily differ a lot for these small batteries. The usable battery capacity therefore provides a more acurate calculation of the charing time.
