Popular Zaptec EV charger models

Zaptec currently offers only two popular models of Zaptec EV Charger, namely the Zaptec Go and the Zaptec Pro. Both Zaptec EV Chargers feature a sleek and modern design, but do differ in features and functions. Both charge posts also have access to the Zaptec Online Portal. For this, Zaptec has also developed its own app. We will look at each model individually below.

Zaptec Go

The Zaptec Go is the latest model from the company. Due to its small size and weight of only 1.3 KG, the charging station is in huge demand. It is a small, modern wallbox packed with features. It was launched in 2022. This Zaptec EV Charger features a type 2 socket and a charging capacity of up to 22 kW. The charger is suitable for both private and business use, in which it has a free choice of back-office. For business use, the Zaptec Go can therefore be set up completely according to your wishes. Furthermore, the Zaptec wallbox has 4G and Wifi connectivity and RFID locking is possible with the Zaptec RFID Key. Dynamic Load Balancing is also possible, in combination with the Tibber Pulse. This load balancer is connected to your P1 meter and takes into account your power consumption and possibly a dynamic energy contract.

Zaptec Pro

The Zaptec Pro is Zaptec's oldest but most comprehensive model. The Zaptec Pro is one of the few chargers ready for bi-directional charging. Furthermore, this charger is also hugely suitable for the business world, as it features multi-charge point load balancing. This means that an unlimited number of Zaptec Pros can be connected together and then power is distributed using Active Load Balancing. This could possibly be perfect for a charging plaza or business charging in your company's car park. Of course, the Zaptec Pro also features a MID meter, which makes business charging automatic and compliant. All necessary charging information can additionally be found in the Zaptec app.

Mounting the charging station

First, remove the front plate. Then use the built-in spirit level to make sure the charging station hangs straight. Mount the charging station at least 0.9m off the ground.

Connect the power cable to the EV Charger

The Zaptec Go requires an earth leakage circuit breaker and earth leakage switch type A (30mA) for connection. The Zaptec Go offers 3 different access options, namely via bottom, top and back. These are labelled on the charging station as H, I and J, Then poke out the hole and gently pull down the cover to remove. Next, connect all wires and then press all terminals down firmly. When all wires are properly and securely fastened, you can put back the cover and turn on the switch.

Configure the EV Charger

Before you can start configuring, you need to install the Zaptec app. This can be downloaded from both the App and Google Play Store.

Completing installation

After completing the configuration, you can replace the faceplate and check that the status indicator lights white. If this is the case, the installation is almost successfully completed. If you want to change settings on the Zaptec Go, you can do so via the installed app.

In the app menu, select configure products and enter the PIN code. Then check that your charge point is online and that the charge post has the latest firmware update. Then test the operation of the RCD. If this also works, you're done. The Zaptec Go is then ready for use.
