EV charger for Nissan Ariya
Electric cars like the Nissan Ariya can be charged via a Nissan Ariya EV charger. A few things are useful to know for this; a EV charger with a heavier charging capacity will not charge more than the maximum charging capacity of your car, but it can't hurt either.
EV chargers have 4 charging capacities, provided they are not self-adjustable:
- 3.7 kW charger (1 phase of 16A)
- 7.4 kW charger (1 phase of 32A)
- 11 kW charger (3 phases of 16A)
- 22 kW charger (3 phases of 32A)
Choice in Wallbox Nissan Ariya
When charging the Nissan Ariya, you can choose between two types of EV chargers. The first option is a EV charger with a fixed charging cable. This type allows you to charge directly without bringing a separate cable. The second option is a EV charger with a socket connection. This means that there is no fixed charging cable, allowing you and your customers or associates to charge the Nissan Ariya with their own cable. This choice offers more flexibility, especially if several vehicles use the same charger.
Fuse box connection for the EV charger
Choosing the best EV charger depends on your fuse box. Every fuse box is different, there are a number of things to consider:
- The difference between a 1- or 3-phase fuse box. With a 1-phase fuse box, the maximum load capacity is usually4 kW, although with a 3-phase fuse box, the load capacity can be up to 22 kW.
- Also keep in mind that sometimes there may not be enough space, and the fuse box may need to be expanded. This can easily be done with an expansion box.
It is wise to consider an 11 kW 3-phase EV charger if you already have a fuse box with a 3-phase connection. You are immediately prepared for the future with such an EV charging station, as most fully electric cars have a charging capacity of 11 kW that requires a 3-phase connection. If you are expecting a fully electric car in the future, a charger with a 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW charging capacity will probably be too low.
Mobile EV charger for Nissan Ariya
With a mobile charger (also known as a portable EV charger), you can charge your hybrid or electric car via a normal socket at home. Like the Nissan Ariya, choose a suitable Nissan Ariya mobile charger. Power sockets at home have a rating of 220 volts. A portable charger is equipped to connect to that power grid. Often home charging via the wall socket is slower, though.
A mobile charger can usually charge 2.3 kW or 3.7 kW (10 or 16A). Just make sure you pay close attention to the rest of your power consumption on the same group. 16A is more current than normally consumed in your household by an appliance, this can have unpleasant consequences such as cables or sockets burning out.
EV charging cable for Nissan Ariya
The Nissan Ariya has a Mennekes connection, it requires a type 2 charging cable. It is possible to use both a phase 3 and phase 1 charging cable, as a heavier cable does not affect the car's charging capacity.
