EV Charger

Have you just bought an electric car, are you new to electric driving and/or are you looking for the best charging station for your electric car? For the answer to this question, you have come to the right place.

Buying a charging station is a fairly complex choice these days. Which wallbox EV station suits my type of car and household best is a question we are often asked. With this, we will continue to help you below. We at Wallbox Discounter offer a wide range of EV chargers, so the most suitable charging station is available for every household. You can purchase a charging station from as little as €299.

We offer EV charging stations with a socket or a fixed cable. A socket requires the purchase of an additional charging cable, which can be easily connected to the charging station. A charging station with fixed charging cable is already equipped with this charging cable. It can be equipped with a type 2 plug or a type 1 plug. The charging stations with fixed charging cables are almost all equipped with a type 2 plug. This plug can be used with almost any EV on the market. Only the older electric cars, still have a type 1 plug. The plugs that have a type 2 plug are also capable of 3-phase charging.

Finally, we have a number of charging stations with additional functions. These include unlocking and locking with an RFID charging card, load balancing or the use of an app, which provides insight into charging sessions.

Different types of EV chargers

There are many different types of charging stations with different functions. Below, we introduce you to some of the popular charging stations in our range.

Company EV charger

De Alfen Eve Single Pro-Line 11 kW die bezig is met een laadsessie.

Are you looking for a charging station for employees to charge at home for business purposes, or are you looking for a charging station for your company premises? For both options, you have come to the right place. Both these options have one thing in common, namely business charging. Business charge posts can charge business in two different ways, these are explained in more detail below.

OCCP (Open Charge Point Protocol)

This is a communication protocol between the charge point and the back office system. The protocol ensures that a charging session is converted into a charging transaction, which is then passed back to the back office system behind the charge point. This is often done in combination with charging cards, for example. This system ultimately takes care of settlement via a link to the corresponding bank account.

KWH Meter with MID

A KWH meter is literally a meter that measures how many kW are consumed. Some chargers have this meter built in, but it can also be placed separately in the meter box.
In the Netherlands and other European countries, it is very important that this KWH meter has a MID quality mark. This quality mark indicates that the number of kWh registered may be used for registrations and settlements by, for example, an employer or the tax authorities. The MID meter is therefore essential for a business charge post.

Choose this charge post when you want to settle business expenses or when you want to use a charge post for your business location.
Price range: from €589 to €3,699

Smart EV charger

With the rise in the use of hybrid and electric cars, the demand for the number of charging stations is also increasing. Partly due to this increase, charging stations are being developed in an increasingly better and therefore smarter way. Smart charging stations are called smart because they take into account several aspects that can be important when charging your hybrid or electric car. These include charging when the power is cheapest, or using your own solar energy. These points will be discussed in more detail below.

Dynamic Load Balancing

A common feature on a smart charging station is dynamic load balancing. This feature ensures that your charger takes into account the power consumption of other electrical appliances in your household.

Dynamic energy contract

A smart charging station will charge when the electricity at the supplier is cheapest. When you have a dynamic energy contract, your electricity is cheapest in the hours when the demand for power is lowest. Our smart charging stations that work with your dynamic energy contract take variable energy tariffs into account, so that your electric car is charged as cheaply as possible.

Connect to your solar panels

Besides dynamic load balancing, in many cases a smart charging station can also connect to your solar panels. This ensures, that your electric car is charged with your own solar energy. Some smart charging stations, such as the Zappi above, are equipped with these functions. Other charging stations with smart technology can be equipped with a load balancer, which still provides the smart charging station with a connection to your solar panels.
Check out charging stations with solar panels.

Shown above is one of our best smart charging stations, namely the Myenergi Zappi V2.1. The Zappi is actually the first choice within our company and is considered the ideal charging station at the moment. This is because the post is equipped with all the features mentioned above. In addition to these features, this charging station also has a charging capacity of 22 kW, which also makes it very future-proof. Are you looking for the perfect charging station? Check out the Myenergi Zappi V2.1 .

Choose this charging station if you have a dynamic energy contract and want to make optimal use of it, or if you want to use your solar panels to charge your hybrid or electric car at home.

7,4 , 11 of 22 kW EV charger

At Wallbox Discounter, we offer chargers in four different charging capacities, namely:
- 3.7 kW EV charger (1x16A)
- 7.4 kW EV charger (1x32A)
- 11 kW EV charger (3x16A)
- 22 kW EV charger (3x32A)
Each capacity, equals a different charging speed. Should you have a car that can charge 22 kW, this car will have a faster charging speed with a 22 kW charging power than with 11 kW. Should you have an electric car that has a charging power of 11 kW. Then the charging speed will be just as high when you use a 22 kW charger.
Which capacity is most suitable for you depends very much on your own electricity connection. Not sure what kind of grid connection you have in your home? Here are a few tips to help you find out quickly.

New construction after 2000

Do you have a newly built home built after 2000? Then you can reasonably assume that your home has a three-phase mains connection. To be sure anyway, here are a few more tips.

Smart meter

Does your home have a smart meter? Then you can read on it what your mains connection is. Does it say 380/400 V or 3x 220/230 V? Then you have a 3-phase mains connection for charging.

Energy year bill

Do you have access to your latest annual energy bill? This annual energy bill should correctly state which grid connection you have.

Power current

Do you have access to power current at home? Then you have a three-phase connection. Power current requires at least two phases to be installed.

Electricity meter

The number of phase connection can also be seen by counting the number of red poles on the main switch. If you have 2 poles, you have a 1 phase mains connection. Should there be 4, you have a 3 phase connection.

Above is one of our most variable charging stations in terms of charging capacity, namely the Besen charging station. The Besen is available in any charging capacity and features a handy display where you can easily read your charging details. In addition, the Besen features high water resistance and is a Plug & Charge charging station.

Within the world of charging stations, we know three different types. These are charging posts, wallboxes and mobile EV chargers.

  • Charging posts: The electric charging post is the most convenient way to create a charging point for your electric or hybrid car. Cables are drawn from the meter box to where the charging station is installed. Most charging stations are already equipped with a fixed cable including type 1 or type 2 plug, so all you have to do is plug it in when you get home.
  • Wallbox: A Wallbox is basically the same as a charging station. The only major difference is that it is fixed to the wall, while the charging post is mounted on a pole. Our models are all suitable for mounting on a wall or on a pole.
  • Mobile charger: Our mobile home charger is the most convenient way to charge your hybrid or electric car with a home charging station. You plug it into your normal 230V socket. However, this often means putting the cable through your letterbox or across the pavement to reach your car or your own driveway. The mobile home charger is widely used in cities, on the road or with friends and family who have not yet installed a charging station at home. The disadvantage of this method of charging is its low speed, which means it takes a long time before your car has a full battery again. The mobile charger is very suitable for a hybrid car with a small battery capacity.

Charging station installation

The moment you purchase a charging station, it needs to be installed.
The installation of a charging station is precision work. We therefore strongly recommend having it done by an expert. This is why we work with a company known for its experience in installing charging stations. This applies to all types of charging stations mentioned above.

The cost of a EV charger installation is hugely variable and depends on your own situation. In our experience, we can estimate these costs between €399 and €799 euros. As reported above, this strongly depends on your own situation or the type of charging station. Think of different additional costs for excavation work, or other additional costs for different adjustments in your meter box.

Cost of a EV charger

Who offer different charging stations in different price ranges. So what are the costs of an EV charger? In this, the price depends heavily on the following factors:
- The price of your charge point
- Installation costs
- The consumption of your car
- The kWh price you pay for electricity
- The number of kilometres you drive per year
- Cost of any charging cable

The cheapest charge point in our range is €299, which is very advantageous when compared to other providers. This is a charge point with basic functions, which therefore does not have the smart features of other charge points. The low price does not mean that the quality is less. This is reflected on Kiyoh, where we score a 9.3 out of more than 750 reviews.

The installation cost of an EV charger is highly variable, but can be estimated between €399 and €799. The reason in variation is that every situation is different. The final cost depends heavily on your own situation. Any extra digging, adjustments to your meter box and the location of the installation all affect the total installation cost.

Don't like a charging station with a fixed charging cable? No problem. We also offer charging posts with socket. The functioning of the station is the same, only you need an extra charging cable, which you can take with you. A charging cable is available from as little as €119.

We also have a charging post available for almost all charging stations, to mount the charging station on. These are available from €179.

This is a technique whereby the charge point only uses the available energy, so you don't have to worry about overloading your power network while charging.

What type of plug does my electric car have?

In total, electric cars can have two different plug connections. These are the Type 1 and Type 2 plug. The Type 2 plug has been designated as the standard by the European Commission.
